DOCTOR Anthony Hudson keeps meeting people who remember the days when daily lessons were held in his home.
For home to the 31-year-old is part of the old St Fagans school, a building which has now been converted into three properties.
"A lot of my neighbours and people who I talk to in St Fagans tell me that they can remember when the building was still being used as a school," said emergency registrar Dr Hudson.
rio grande Casting Pendant supplyIt was the history and character of the building which attracted Dr Hudson to the house when he bought it five years ago as the conversion work was nearing completion. There are not many signs of the old school now but Dr Hudson believes his main front door is where the old school cloakroom would have been and that his large open-plan living/dining room is a former classroom. The original floorboards in this room have been varnished and left exposed as a feature.
But Dr Hudson's favourite feature in his home are the almost-floor-to-ceiling windows which let light flood through all the rooms.
"The windows are not the original ones but are hand-made replicas. They are very large and there are lots of them. It means that there are some great views out onto the open countryside around the house.
"Having the countryside so close and yet still being near to the city was another attraction," added Dr Hudson.
But a new job in another part of the country means it is now time for Dr Hudson to move on.
